What do legal services include?

What do legal services include? Law is a vast field of knowledge that takes many years to explore. Due to the breadth of the issue and its difficulty, lawyers enjoy great recognition and social prestige. This is also due to the poor knowledge of the law by average citizens, which means that the only person who can help with the intricacies of laws and regulations is a lawyer.

However, no law specialist knows all its areas, which is why there are specific specializations that allow you to explore specific topics and gain expert knowledge, and then effectively help clients. Probably everyone has heard of the three basic types of law, which include: civil, criminal and administrative. Issues in the field of financial and economic law also often appear in the public debate, and most often topics related to labor and family law.

What are legal services?

The nature of legal services is very constant and common to all branches of law, although of course the steps taken, decisions and strategies differ. Generally speaking, legal services consist in advising and explaining legal problems, and if necessary, also in representation before the relevant authorities (police, court, press). Lawyers also prepare various types of pleadings and court documents, as well as statements and lawsuits. They operate for individual and collective clients.

Legal services in family law

Family law is associated with difficult processes, burdened with great emotions on both sides involved in the case. Therefore, family law concerns, among others: divorces, determining parental authority and the amount of alimony, division of property, inheritance. Legal services here consist not only in advising and searching for optimal solutions, but also in calming down and reducing the intensity of emotions. A lawyer can also act as a mediator. Particularly difficult are cases concerning the determination of parental care, as well as the amount of alimony (increase or decrease). On the basis of cooperation with a lawyer, key pleadings are prepared, evidence in the case is collected or the aforementioned mediations are conducted, which in many cases allow to minimize the effects of the conflict and find a solution that is satisfactory for both parties. Under family law, the issue of parental care is determined, also burdened with great emotions. Sometimes it is also necessary to apply for the limitation of parental authority or its complete removal.

Legal services and inheritance

Another branch of law is inheritance cases. Usually, the problem concerns the acceptance or rejection of the inheritance. In each of these situations, certain rules must be met. Most often, inheritance takes place naturally in the direct line or on the basis of a drawn up will. However, the lack of a record for a related person in the will may lead to a court case and the application for the right to inheritance. You can also apply to contest a will. Both lineal and will succession is conditional, meaning that anyone who has a right to it can decline or accept it within a certain period of time. The heirs usually decide to reject the inheritance because it involves paying off a high debt, which is ultimately unprofitable. Acceptance and rejection of the inheritance may take place by submitting an appropriate statement or after 6 months it occurs spontaneously. This is especially important for people who do not want to inherit from the deceased. Lack of a declaration of rejection of the inheritance is tantamount to its acceptance, which in the case of debt involves its repayment. The fixed period of six months starts at the time after the inheritance notice. After its expiry, there is no possibility of rejection, unless the person proves that he had no knowledge of inheritance. A declaration of acceptance or rejection of inheritance can be submitted to a notary public or to a court. This also applies to children. Both options have the same legal force, and submitting a statement to a notary public involves a shorter procedure. However, you have to reckon with the fact that the application costs money.

Apart from judicial law, there are of course many branches of law, examples of which have been given in the introduction. Legal services are provided by individuals and law firms, which of course does not affect the quality of the services provided. Usually, however, law firms have a larger team in which they can consult or transfer clients to each other. Some lawyers specialize in advising, drafting pleadings or representing individual clients. Other services consist of advising companies and enterprises. It all depends on the client’s needs. The scope of assistance provided depends primarily on the specific branch of this science and the specificity of the reported problem. Problems are considered very individually, in accordance with applicable law.
